Along with the one and only BC1, is the one and only Sugarbrie Preamp (now GZpz). I also still have that BC21 that we did not upgrade in favor of the new design. The whole story and pics. Gilbert even engraved the faceplate. https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/review-blue-circle-audio-sugarbrie-t...

Tube Rings

I played around with things like that a long time ago.
In the end I went with a different method that works every single time.

USE OTHER TUBES THAT DO NOT NEED DAMPENING......

I found that in many cases, those solutions dampened the sound as well.

I find this interesting from the vantage point that I always felt the old Music Ring sounded better than the BC6000 for line level components.

If you remember my comments at the time; the BC6000 sounded a little sterile in my system.

So here we are; back to the future.

Preamp

I actually have a custom 6SN7 preamp with what Gilbert says is GZpz +20%

There is information about the original version of it (before GZpz) and pictures, at the bottom of the BC21 upgrade page, and on AudiogoN.

NSL

Exactly.... The US Patent people could just come over to my house to check it out and do their review. I could even pick them up.. :D

The average wait time for patent approval is only 34-36 months. I promise to bring it back when it is done...

Patent

Gilbert,
Have you run to the Canadian patent office with your radical design?
The US Patent office headquarters are 2 miles from my house if you need a delivery? :D

Zero...once upon a time I was in the same position you are now. At that time I like how my system sounded. I just wanted a little more low end. I wanted a tweek to something I liked. New speakers would have been starting over. A sub was the perfect solution. At that time the sub was a REL Storm 3. I...

It really depends on what gear with 6SN7 tubes...... On the Sugarbrie Preamp, when I roll the 6SN7 tubes, it is closer to what Bob is saying above. ("different with each of these tubes but also the same") I also still have a stock BC21. In that simple preamp, changing the 6SN7 tubes is closer to wha...

Do not make a cable. You are then limiting yourself to just one cable. The Blue Circle RCA/XLR adapters are very high quality. They are as good as no adapter. You will not experience any signal loss. They will not affect the sound. BC also has XLR/RCA adapters. Then you can use any of the thousands ...

I have to go along with Monkey Wrench. PhilNYC likes his single ended BC preamp put in the balanced inputs with an adapter of his 200 amp. I like putting my BC single ended preamp into the single ended inputs of my 200 amp. Neither of us is right or wrong. It is what we prefer. You have to live with...

Gilbert, I looked back at your old emails from when you made the Sugarbrie preamp and yes, it is closest to the BC3000Mk2, including the use of the Blue Circle true film and foil capacitors at the output, instead of the metalized polypropylene capacitors in the BC3..

Yes, I knew Attilio ended up with a 204, but he spent a good amount of time with the 202 and BC28 which is the point. I run a 204 single ended with my custom BC preamp. I have also run them with Gilbert's Neutrik balanced adapters as well in the balanced inputs. I prefer the single ended inputs with...
