hi tom, im not gilbert but i have a bc509 and just installed a ifi spdif purifier between my squeezebox touch and my dac and had very good results. I've only had it a week but i would say it acted like adding one of gilbert's power cleaners.
hope that helps a bit,
paul

saving

i am getting closer to my goal of getting blue circle amplification later this year. i have my goals set on mono blocks to power my 15" tannoy hpd's. gilbert said to consider bc 2k2sh or 4sh for mono. according to the price list though, purchasing two 2k2sh is the same price as a pair of 2k8sh mono ...

i have been keenly interested in the post and reluctant to chime in based on my lack of knowledge but here goes. i am in roughly the same point albeit a bit further along. my bc 21.1 is in to have a lil'703 installed and an external power supply added. i asked gilbert the same basic question. will t...

hi bjh, thanks for that really helpful reply. there seems to be these opposing view of tannoys. one side is your view and other is low powered tube amps. good to know about the bc22, i had my suspicions about it. i guess i really new that i should be setting aside closer to 3k to get a good amp to l...

hi mark, yes that helps a lot. i too have seen bc22 for sale however i am saving my coins to allow gilbert the most freedom to upgrade the power supply as far as the enclosure allows and i can't splurge on a new amp right now. i should be able to grab one like that in the fall. i am also eyeing up a...

hi k-dub, thank you for your insightful reply. i should clarify that my plan is to get a blue circle amp. i am a blue circle junkie now. i was just testing the waters because i really enjoyed the mcintosh sound and i anticipated that blue circle is better in every way. there is a sweet sound with th...

mcintosh sound

gilbert suggested i post this question here. i should state i have never heard a blue circle amp. i own a bc 21.1 which is heading back home to have a lil'703 installed and an upgraded outboard power supply. i have tannoy berkeleys on the end and a 25 year old forte audio model 3 amp since new. i bo...

Auralic Aeries

Not sure if there is any interest from anyone, but I would like to hear if there is any input from the Blue Circle crowd about this new Auralic Aeries streamer. I have both my SBT and CD player running through my BC509 and to my ears CD wins. Both are SPDIF. The Aries is basically a streamer with wh...

i also have a 21.1. a vintage audio guy here on the island told me that a preamp sounds best between 11 and 1 o'clock on the volume control. i don't know wether that is fact or fiction. when i am listening to music, it is always past 11 on the volume control but never past 1 or 2. when listening to ...

thank you, no it doesn't confuse me because i trust what you say. my ears confirm everything you have promised so far. the one thing i struggle with in all the high res. digital thing is no physical media to hold and explore while listening. after sleeping on it, it still makes more sense to upgrade...

well thank you, that answers my question sure but opens up a huge dilemma. where to go next... my journey with blue circle and gilbert has been amazing. the next step is either to upgrade my bc21.1 and add a phono stage or upgrade the bc509 to handle usb and dsd. there is no right answer i suppose, ...

dsd

i thought i had a handle on computer audio but i am a bit confused with this. i have a custom bc509 with only spdif inputs which i feed from my sb touch, streaming from my NAS. i was planning on installing a usb input at some point. i have the enhanced digital output applet installed that allows for...

first day of listening

to start, a short story. i just got back from my friend's house who soldered up my dh labs cables with furutech bnc connectors and rca's on the other end. my 8 year daughter asked what they were for, i explained. i hooked up the cables and on her request she asked to hear adele 21. it started playin...

it arrived!

hi again and thank you for the welcome to the forum. my tuner/dac arrived late yesterday. i had to open the cabinet to see for my self what had been done. the smell of silicon was the first noticeable sign, something i am familiar with after months of home reno's caulking up an old house. i really a...
