Re: NSI - the first impressions

On driving the NSW with the preamp output of an NSI, I was thinking of using the NSI in place of my NSC. If that's not a good idea, I'll just let the NSC continue to service the NSW and leave the NSI to its own devices!

Re: NSI - the first impressions

No reason why we couldn't run an NSW with the preamp outs, right?

Re: NSI - the first impressions

You have to wonder what the "lesser NSI" will sound like, don't you! How much of the meal can we get for around half as much? It's still going to be more amp than the NSC/002-ESP I'm listening to. And what I'm listening to is wonderful.

Re: NSI - the first impressions

I'll have the proto-type that George is listening to after it's been to the Toronto Audio Fest and will follow up on his report. That said, I don't expect to have much more to say than this! Great report. Many of us have been listening in on Gilbert's thoughts the last year or so and hoped they'd co...

Three Weeks In

Three weeks in. "The Best 75 Jazz Tracks of the Early 1960's." (Chrome Dreams CD6 5105) There is more life and emotion in the midrange. This is a wonderful set of CD's (as is The Best of the 1950's"), and it really has increased visceral and soulful life this week in the NSC/NSW/Orfeo Jubilee combina...

Re: NSW: First Listening Report -- Update

This morning the NSW/Orféos pairing turned a corner. I have never heard a cello sound as beautiful and complete as Sol Gabetta's performance of Peteris Vasks' new Cello Concerto did today. I heard this same recording a week ago and while good, it was nowhere near as wonderful as it was this morning....

NSW: First Listening Report

In filing this first, early report on the new NSW 300, as there is only one speaker in my house that is its natural mate, the new Jean Marie Reynaud Orféo Jubilees, I have no way yet of separating what this amp sounds like from what its mates sound like. So take the following as a flawed first repor...

Re: TSP

I have one here. It does as you would expect, sort of what the tube in the ELD BD does. Introduces a hint of the late DAR for those who find their ss amps, especially the Class D's for example, insufficiently soulful. I don't find I need that but some do. Gilbert has been playing with tube/ss option...

Re: NSW

Sometimes we write for BC folk who want an impression of what the new gear sounds like, sometimes to be overheard by non BC folk who listen in to hear what Blue Circle is all about. Our job is to describe what we hear, comparing where we can, but mainly with 'live' music as a reference. Blue Circle ...

NSW

Mine is due here late this week or early next. Will be paired with an NSC on a pair of the new JMR Orféo Jubilees. Will report out on both as soon as I feel break-in is pretty far in. Why am I posting this now? Because I'm sick of seeing nothing here. I guess everybody is just happy with their BC ge...

Re: BC1002-ML stereo power amplifier

We should have foreseen this and it's very good news. We know that Gilbert believes in the greater control he can achieve as a designer with integrateds than with separates, but there are folks out there with good preamps (107, NSC) who will find this a true blessing. The 002i EPS is so fine a piece...

002i with EPS Re-visited

Confession: As my 002i has settled in, I find I am playing it all of the time with the EPS, as is my first 002i customer. On truly critical speakers, like my new Jean Marie Reynaud Abscissa Jubilees, the body, mid-range clarity, and beauty of the 002i - EPS are extraordinary. As good as the OO2i alo...
