Looking to upgrade

Post by Ha Boi Egg » Thu Nov 04, 2010 3:35 pm

Looking to replace my Mani-2's and have just had the Totem Wind Design for audition. It wouldn't be a fair comparison because the Winds are in a different league. You don't know what you have until it's gone.... :(

New Speakers for Mr. Egg

Post by Bob Neill » Thu Nov 04, 2010 4:13 pm

You know what you need there, right? Just ask me, I dare you! What's that amp down there, a 202 or 204? Or is it a 26?

Guessing

Of course. You want a pair of Orfeos, simple as that.

So the Mani-2's were better or the Winds still not yet broken-in or not suited for your room?

Hey Boo-Lite,how u bin mon?
Long story short...my system kinda out grew the Mani-2's.I felt there was an imbalance and borrowed a pair of Winds and voila! More body, detail and sense of space. The Mani-2's can still strut their stuff but I feel that my system can do more.So the quest begins. :)

Well I love my Salk speakers that have a toe-tapping synergy with my BC gear. They are getting good press recently including at RMAF. The new RAAL ribbon tweeter is sooooo smooth. And the finish must be seen to be believed.

I own the HT1-TL. But that is the bottom of the high end lineup. I have heard the HT-2TL and HT3. They are both excellent and definite steps up from mine in terms of being even more full range.

Anyways just throwing that out as another data point for you to consider!

Good luck in your upgrade quest. How fun.

Hey Stew,
Thanks for the words of encouragement.I have always admired the look of the Salks but have yet to hear them.Like most "on-line" gear,if I can use that term and being from the Great White North,we don't hear/see what most Independants are doing out there, even though we have an audio show in Montreal. If I might add, speakers are like women, they're all enticing, until you have to pick a pair!
