TAVES 2012 -- CS2 Surfaces !

Post by Double D » Sun Sep 30, 2012 8:00 pm

Well, TAVES 2012 is over for this year, and judging from what I saw, and what I've read so far, it seems like Gilbert and Rene did a great job at the TAVES show ! Lots of good comments on the sounds coming from the BC/Mystic Audio room, and indeed the new CS2 was sounding rather lovely pushing the Penaudio Cenya's around ..
Toward the end of day today, the PhilJones Silver5's were switched in and also seemed fairly comfortable on the end of the new CS2. Looks like we have a new "heir to the crown" in the CS2. :D Image

Yeah - BC and Mystic room was very "real" sounding. I had the pleasure of taking my 12 yr. old BC26 to Innerkip (thanks for waiting for me Al!!) for an update and then swinging over to the TAVES show. Spent most of my time hanging with Rene and Gilbut and had some good conversation and of course, laughs. Did make my way to other rooms, but had to come back to the BC room to get "centered" again - both the Cenya's and the Silver 5's sounded good. All in all a great time and can't wait to get my amp back!!! :D :D :D

When will the prices for the CS2 become available?

The CS2 is available right now. There are two versions in term of power. The 50 watt per channel is $2000.00, 80 watt version is $2600.00. These prices will give you a cover and chassis but no faceplate. Bascially what you see in the picture is what you get with a nice vent holes on top of the cover. The standard cover color is black and chassis is blue.

Other options are available and we have posted on TAVES. I need to look at my paperwork again and see what we have posted before I put it up on the web site.

Finally got a chance to spend some time with the CS2 today. It's an extremely nice progression from the CS. In fact, it really sounds like a slightly more focussed - albeit slightly less powerful - NSCS. Very articulate, solid bottom, and holds together really well up the volume range. Pretty awesome all in all.

Glad to see it after all these years. Based on what little Gilbert says about the amp, it's bound to be better than the original CS, which was my first venture into hi-fi, and that was a great starter amp to say the least. In fact, it is still alive and well in Copenhagen, owned by a close friend of my step-son, to whom I sold it 5-6 years ago (more?).

I don't think a beginner could go wrong with the CS2.
