CS2 120 watt version

Post by Gilbert Y » Wed Mar 12, 2014 1:51 pm

The new CS2 integrated amp has two versions, originally it was 50 watt and 80 watt. I have decided keeping the small one at 50 watt make sense. But have a slightly higher wattage at 80 watt make no sense at all. So here you are, it's 120 watt into 8 ohms and 160 watt into 4 ohms.

The heatsinks are the same, Shallco attenuator is the same but almost nothing else is the same.

If someone has to compare the CS2 to NSCS, here are a few points that I can come up with

The CS2 120watt has a bigger power supply, 214,000uF compare to 100,000 uf in the NSCS. CS2 has a much better preamp section. It uses the same preamp section as the FtTH2. The CS2 also in a slightly bigger chassis which allow easier more future upgrade possibility.

I am not saying NSCS cannot be upgrade but it is going to be more difficult than the CS2. When I designed the CS2, I had more ideas what I can do in the future so I allow space for those ideas.
