Phil of Sonic Spirits was nice enough to let me borrow an NSCS along with some Focus speakers I was auditioning. I own a BC 21.1 and BC24, so I wasn't really in the market for an integrated, but I was curious. I was surprised to find that while the NSCS doesn't do certain things as well as the 21/24 combo, it actually has a sweeter tone and more midrange bloom than the separates. The separates get the nod in terms of detail and delicacy. I've heard several solid state amps that were reputed to have "no solid state artifacts," but the NSCS was first I've heard that really didn't have any solid state artifacts. I suspect the FtiH (spelling?) would be better in most respects than the 21/24 combo, which is very fine in its own right. I realize that the BC21.1 is no longer in the lineup, which makes perfect sense to me, given the other options.
