Yannatou is a classically trained vocalist who got her start singing Baroque, Renaissance and early music. Later in her career she dwelved mainly in experimental jazz. Her main source of inspiration comes from the Mediteranean basin. She sings in twelve languages and always tries to remain faithful to the traditional sound. Gradually, she has extended her vocal techniques to include throat singing, glossolalia and ululations among others.
I first discovered her in 1998 with her release of "Mediterranea" which was a real eye opener. This was followed by her collection of 'Traditional Lullabies ' and 'Rosa das Rosas' which includes a composition from 13th Century Spanish author Alphonse the Wise.
Jules Verne took you around the World in eighty days. Savina does it within the lenght of her CD's.
