| I've noticed a lot of discussion about BCA equipment on this forum. After all it is a BC forum. And I'm sure we all agree that Mr.Yeung builds some of the finest audio gear on the planet. But lets not forget the whole reason this hobby and BCA exist. The Music. That being said I'm curious what people are listening to. On their BC gear of course! Does anyone out there have any favourite albums, recordings or artists ? Maybe even some recommendations for other BC owners to have a listen to. |

Holy Cow! Where does one begin? I have nearly 2000 CD's in my collection.
About 60% Jazz, 20% New Age and the rest is an assortment of Classical, Country, Rock and CD re-issues of old LP favorites.
Since the arrival of my Fon Lo PeedAm Thingie, I've been buying some more vinyl as well.
It would be easier for me to say that I just love music in general except for Rap and music that sounds like Rap.
Mind you, my music taste has changed over the years. I may have it but don't listen to it anymore. _________________ Mike |

I really like the recordings from Fidelio. But then again, being a displaced Montréal boy, I'm kind of bias. My favorite from their catalog is " A Tribute to Julie London" by Doreen Smith. Happy listening! _________________ Mike |

I quote Boo Lite, he said: "It would be easier for me to say that I just love music in general except for Rap and music that sounds like Rap."
Are you consider Rap is music? Shame on you mon. I respect some of the rappers but some of the words that coming oooot from their mouth....... I always wonder how can anyone listen to that?
I remember many years ago, I posted I have been listening to some David Benoit and that was smooth jazz. After that period, I was back into standard jazz. Then a few month later, romantic period classical. Then for a couple weeks, pop music. Then for one night and one nigh only. I actually spent the whole night of almost 5 hours listening to some old time chinese pop music. That was a real treat and the next night I asked myself what the heck did I do last night.
After that horrific night, 60's, 70's big band. Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Jimmy Heath, Bill Watrous. Then I moved onto the 80's and 90's big band. Some names like Bob Flourence, Bud Shank. They were started in the 70's too. Also bands like Steve West, John La Barbera. Only recently I move onto big name band like Gordon Goodwin. Couldn't stand the guy until I know he was the lead trumpeter in Bill Watrous' band in the 70's. Ok, I will give him a try. His stuff can be so intense it was like having someone pound on your chest for an hour after finishing his CDs. But, if it is what it is, then it should be like it is. I rather have someone pound on my chest if it is intended to then everything smooth and distance all the time. When it is suppose to be smooth and distance,
I expect it to be smooth and distance like some classical mooosic.
Now, I am into Jimmy Smith, John Pattan, Jimmy McGriff all of those old school Hammond B3 who still using Leslie speaker for their organ type of music. Someone here commented they are like hockey music. I can tel he didn't care mutch aboooot it.
Beside the few classical CDs and some standard jazz that were audiophile labels. Most of my CDs and LPs are regular non audiophile type. I can't see myself to pay over $30.00 for a extra thick LP or a shiny gold CD. At this point, I don't have true high speed so download is just too crazy for me. Beside, I am old school so I like to have something to hold onto. I still have all those LPs I haven't get a chance to go through them so I will keep looking for more mooooosic from those shelves. I also buy new moooosic from Goodwill store. They sell LPs for 99 cents. Use to be 50 cents. I guess they have to raise their price too. |
