If someone assss me which album I have put on the most in the past 2 weeks. It is this one.
I got all my female vocals frum it. Don't have a clue what they are singing but I don't care. In fact it's better because if they are whining about they lose their boy fan or girl fan or the world suck, I wouldn't have a clue. Better that way.
Beside, they have RANGE mon. Frum Bar La Tone to Sup Pan Lo and an all guts tra to boot.
I know at least two members here leeeeson to this stuff. If another know of a better recording, pleeeeze let me lo. The only fing I rather not have it audiofool labels. |

I don't have the St. Mathew Passion yet but I do have Gardiner's Mass In B Minor on Archiv and it's also very goot mon. One of my favourite performances of one of my favourite pieces of music.

Bob
Which one? Can you give some info on label and CD numbers? I have found one which is a complete JEG Bach cantatas recordings but they don't seem to be new recordings. They are from the early 80's to 2000s. |

The only series I like as well is the one my Nicolas Harnoncourt, which came out many years ago when the Early Music Movement was new. It is less refined, using all male (including boys) voices. Telefunken.
Koopman's series on Challenge Classics is good in a somewhat reserved Northern European manner but also good.
Sazuki on Bis is the most reverent, too much so for me but is much admired.
The Gardiner series on SDG has more joy in it than the others. |

Thanks for the recommendations, Bob.
The aria ‘Erbarme Dich’ is one of the most beautiful and moving pieces of music I’ve ever heard. I don’t attend too many classical concerts but the performance of the SMP I attended a few years ago around Easter at Roy Thompson Hall is still one of favourite concert experiences ever. |
