It’s a headphone amp and a preamp in a couple, or three, drain pipes. We put it under the headphone amp section because we suspect most people are going to buy this Hat Peed Thingee to use as a headphone amp. If we are wrong, well, we are wrong.
This Hat Peed Thingee uses the same audio circuit as the SBH with upgraded op-amps. It can drive low impedance headphones. It can handle three pairs of 32 ohm headphones with no problem. It can drive those headphones and at the same time drive a power amp too. You may ask why so much power. It's reserve power to provide you with the headroom you'll need to deal wth demanding music.
The Hat Peed Thingee is just like any other Thingee product. There are serval levels of power supply upgrades. Actually four levels to be exact. "Confused? We'll explain. But first why would we do this? Because entirely too many people have asked whether they can buy a demo SBH headphone amp because they can’t afford a new one. We have only one demo and it is still being use as a demo, therefore it is not for sale. So, we made a headphone amp in a pipe and put it into the Thingee line of products to save some cost on the cosmetics. Result - performance without the extra cost of expensive cosmetics.
How did we design it? Simple, take the SBH circuit and use the upgraded op-amp, the one used in the BC109. Same volume control same headphone jacks as the SBH. When it comes to power supplies you can look at the pictures for the rest of the story.
Now to unfuzzify the confusion. Hat Peed Thingee comes in four different combinations. They are upgradeable from the basic to the top. Here are the combinations starting from the basic model...
First, the Hat Peed Thingee all by itself. It's just a paper weight without one of the four power supply combinations.

Front end - Headphone jack, selector switch, a green LED for power indication, volume control.
Rear end - Two pairs of line level inputs and preamp output.

The Biggie Pipe power supply has 88,000uF capacitance inside that pipe. The SP Capacitor Pack has more than three times the Biggie Pipe's power supply capacitance. At this point, the total filtering capacitance is 1.8 times more than the SBH. This is one big step to ensure the Hat Peed Thingee has almost the best possible power supply. Yes almost, we can always make a bigger power supply. It’s all depends how much it costs.
Did we mention we use locking XLR jacks and plugs to connect DC power to make sure there is no misconnection? Unlike most other equipment this price range which uses little slide in DC plugs.
