BC1022 Solid State Stereo Power Amplifier
The BC1022 is a 120 watt per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watt per channel into 4 ohm solid-state power amp. It is based on the
design of the NSL and NSP.
Gilbert built the NSL in 2010 as a demonstration platform for the new design. It has made the rounds and has been very well received
by audiophiles have had the opportunity to hear it. The big draw back with the NSL is the size and weigh of the amp. It's too heavy
and only has 28 watts per channel. The NSP, the cousin of NSL, has 90 watts per channel and over 5 Farads of capacitance. It’s also
capable of operating with a bank of batteries. It still weighs a whole lot but it has the power. They are both commercially available but
not that many people can afford the space not to even mention other factors.
Now, back to the BC1022. The size is right. It’s small enough to put in an equipment rack, as long as there is plenty of ventilation.
At 100 watts per channel and with power supplies capacitance of over 488,000uF, it is powerful enough to sustain demanding music
How does it sound? For unbiased commentary on the sound of the BC1022 go to our forum and see what the owners say. They’re the
-output..120 watt per channel into 8 ohms and 160 watt per channel into 4 ohms.
-True balanced from input to output with both positive and negative binding posts being "hot" with signal.
-DC from input to output.
-local "on board" filtering capacitors located less than an inch away from the actual output devices for better transient response.
-all control circuits are done in the analog domain, therefore there’s no digital clock to contaminate the analog signal integrity. It’s
.....an analog amp after all.
-heavy gauge power supply ground return path.
-All internal ac power is controlled by 30A ac power relays for shortest ac power run inside the chassis.
-600VA power transformer supply for output stage only.
-separate power transformers for output stage, input stage
-over 488,000uF in power supply filtering.
-14Ga steel chassis for mechanical integrity.
-Various colours of faceplate, base and cover as options. Stainless steel faceplate is standard
-RCA and XLR inputs.
-Ground lift switch to eliminate ground loops. This switch will only lift the signal ground, the chassis is connected to earth ground
....at all times for safety.
-Dimensions: 17.5" wide x 5.25" high x 15" deep (not including binding posts).
